ABSTRACT
There are lots of songs and action rhymes that involve numbers, such as 'Five Little Ducks Went Swimming One Day' (Resources, p223). Choose a rhyme and teach it to the child. Sing it together, doing the actions where appropriate. Make it even more meaningful by drawing pictures or using little toys to represent the characters in the rhyme. You can then ask the target questions: 'How many ducks went swimming?'
