ABSTRACT

You say ‘yes’ in a very quiet voice and ask the participant to say ‘no’ in a louder voice than you. You then say your ‘yes’ a bit louder than their ‘no’. You encourage them to say ‘no’ louder than your ‘yes’, and so on, until the participant is very confidently and strongly saying ‘no’, hopefully in a very believable way. When this works, the participant will then be able to feel what assertiveness is from their gut and connect to their own potency in this way. You can follow this on by getting the participant to say to you, ‘I will not put up with this!’
