ABSTRACT

The teacher can have students work with as many partners as desired. Lastly, sometimes it is helpful to give musical or visual clues to students to indicate when to walk and when to stop. The teacher can play music while students are walking and turn it off when students should pair up. Students can write questions to review units on physical fitness, nutrition, or other health topics. Questions reviewing for certification, and making business or life choices are examples of topics that students can write for one another. Gisella reviews the Virginia Department of Education standards for this unit: She decides to use the Give One, Get One, Trade! task to have students practice asking and answering questions about familiar topics. She has them write down their questions on notecards, then she reviews them beforehand and helps students reword for grammar. She then has students engage in the Give One, Get One, Trade! activity while she monitors and collects information.
