ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on emergence from deterministic chaos, which is a specific subset of complexity and emergence, where it is possible to instantiate and control the resulting emergent behavior. This chapter does not provide a complete overview of complexity science. Instead, selected aspects of complexity science are described to the level needed in order to understand how to implement this control of emergent complexity. Following the background development, an example is given for solving a computationally hard ad-hoc networking problem. This solution is also applicable to massive swarms.
