ABSTRACT
The first step in building an ontology is a comprehensive study of the knowledge domain for the concept that captures its theories, definitions, descriptors, distinctions, and other important elements. The artifact of the study is a reference model that captures what is known and assumed about emergence/emergents. The reference model informs the ontology by providing a comprehensive view of the domain for concepts including its conflicting and inconsistent aspects.
