ABSTRACT

This chapter explains some targets and methods in planning and statistics on the law of value. For a long time, people have been saying that the law of value is a category belonging to the commodity economy. The wider and deeper the scope of planned management, the more limited will be the influence of the law of value. Karl Marx's theory on the law of value tells us: In the commodity economy, the value of any commodity is created by labor. Because commodity production is blind and spontaneous, supply and demand can never be in equilibrium, and market prices fluctuate continually around values. Only by building planning on the law of value can plans be realized and can the advantages of planning be fully exploited. Statistical workers should not limit their jobs merely to inspecting the implementation of national economic plans. They should put more efforts into mastering the law of value and tapping potentials to develop the national economy.
