ABSTRACT

This chapter describes many sources of information and resources to obtain information that may assist in investigations. There should be some form of documentation showing that someone specifically asked for something to be ordered. The contract file will usually be of tremendous value during investigation. The prime contractor will likely have all documents they provided to and received from the buyer prior to, during, and after the contract was awarded. The subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, shippers, trucking companies, and others may have also used others to assist or complete their contract(s). Legally obtained e-mails with communication about illegal or prohibited activity can make the case even easier to prove. Like e-mails, lawfully obtained and reviewed text messages can result in great evidence-especially in collusion and corruption investigations. Individual's as well as entity's social media profiles and their photos and videos publically shared on the internet can sometimes be of tremendous value to many types of investigations-including collusion and corruption investigations.
