ABSTRACT

Explain to the children that they need to sort them by colour. Give them the opportunity to discuss the variety of colours together. There may be pieces that have more than one colour. Allow the children to problem solve around these bricks, prompting discussion as a group. If they are struggling, you may want to encourage them to ask for your help and offer a number of ideas which they can choose from. For example, ‘Do you think that this piece can be placed with the reds, because although it has some green on it, it is mostly red? Or shall we create a pile for the bricks with more than one colour on?’
