ABSTRACT

Balance is the most important sense for dealing with different sensations. It therefore makes an important contribution to the development of receptive and expressive language. A close neural link exists between the balance system and the sense of hearing; the nerve connections from the ear to the brainstem are linked with those of the vestibular system. A child changes something about his appearance behind a screen or outside the door, and the others have to guess what has changed. Very often, children with speech and language difficulties have difficulties with motor planning and execution. It is therefore important to provide them with strong movement stimuli such as jumping and swinging. The following games involve jumping, spinning, swinging, rocking and driving, and aim to stimulate the vestibular system. the games are Swap with me, the pirate's treasure, snow mountain, television interview, Balloons with content and the boisterous kitten.
