ABSTRACT

Social times are often synonymous with friendships, and forming friendships can also be an area of difficulty for girls and women with ASCs. Indeed, autism is all about how individuals relate to and connect with other people. Many girls with ASC find that they make friends in different ways than other students, causing particular difficulties during social times. Attwood (2007) points out that many students with Asperger’s syndrome choose to play with younger children or prefer the company of adults; others may have a concept of friendship which is a few years behind that of their peers.
