ABSTRACT
Makaton™ is a language programme using signs and symbols (see the section on
page 125) to help people to communicate. It is designed to support spoken language
and the signs and symbols are used with speech, in spoken word order. Makaton
was originally developed by Margaret Walker, Katherine Johnston and Tony Comforth
