ABSTRACT

We know that there is growing anxiety and confusion about children and what is ‘expected’ or ‘concerning’ sexual

behaviour. The prevalence and accessibility of pornography is exacerbating the concerns of parents or guardians

and professionals alike. Concerns are growing among professionals in relation to younger children of primary

school age who may be engaging in concerning behaviour without knowing that it is inappropriate. The average age

of children displaying this sort of behaviour is getting younger and the concerning behaviour more adult-like.
