This is your chance to get creative! Naming the problem serves to ‘externalise’ or separate the problem from the

child and thus is a key part of the process. You and the child together should agree a mutually understood term of

reference, enabling the two of you to have conversations about the problem and its characteristics. It is possible

to talk about serious problems in child-friendly mediums without minimising worries – and it can be a playful and

creative process coming up with names for the issue.
