ABSTRACT

Cued spoken naming aims to strengthen the links between semantic networks and their corresponding templates in the POL. By providing a series of increasing cues to the client, as required, the individual is made to process as much information as possible by themselves; this has been shown to facilitate skill retention (Maas et al, 2008) and recall, ie the generation effect (Bertsch et al, 2007). As discussed previously, cues may add to pathologically degraded information to boost its integrity or provide some constraint on multiple active entries to reduce the cohort of available items. Additionally, some theorists claim that verbal output of a target word influences the threshold for future activation of that word, making it easier to retrieve (Hillis & Caramazza, 1994; Paradis, 1985).
