ABSTRACT

In this research there are certain frequently occurring themes voiced by pupils or ex-pupils in relation to their teachers. A number of them have been selected for preliminary exploration, and of these three are examined in this chapter as they are closely concerned with pupil-teacher relationships. The differences between the boys' groups lack statistical significance. The difference between co-educational and 'boys' schools is statistically significant for first schools but not for last schools. In the 'first schools attended' section the ex-pupils think that the boys' schools treated them slightly 'more like a child' than the co-educational schools. This is in line with two tendencies, the first being the tendency for the co-educational schools to get what appear to be more favourable estimates, and the second the trend for the differences between the boys' groups to be narrower than those between the girls' groups.
