ABSTRACT

What to do Start by explaining to the group that the words we use and the way we use them can have a big influence on how we approach and think about doing something. If we are told that we must, have got to, should or ought to do something, we frequently still react unconsciously in the way we might have done as children, by resenting doing it and thinking about it as irksome and a burden. It is often the same when we think we must do, should do or ought to do something. Doing it feels like an encumbrance or a weight on our shoulders and we are reluctant to start or make any attempt to deal with the matter. This drains us of energy and motivation to do the task.
