ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses various methods, their alternatives, and related comments to guide group members for exploring thick and thin paints and mixed media and paint, and experimenting with paint. If people find it difficult to work as a team, enable them to work individually, and to have the opportunity to share their anxieties. Not everyone is able to share space or work when doing art: people can become quite possessive of their creations, and may not realise this until faced with such an exercise. Validate feelings, and allow for time out, or for people to walk away to do their 'own thing'. When using beans and pulses, it may be necessary to use a lot of PVA glue, and to varnish the completed work when dry, to ensure that all the materials are anchored securely.
