ABSTRACT

Some artists discover a surface on which to create their images and stick to it – for example, watercolour and acrylic on paper or canvas. Others explore further and create images on walls, inside caves, on ceramics, wood, and within nature itself in the form of land art. Some continue on a quest for the perfect surface. Creating images on different surfaces can be challenging and stimulating for any artist. Every artist deserves to treat themselves to a new experience and surface, and to have fun doing so, shamelessly. Unwanted, disposable contact lens cases are excellent as palettes for using and storing silk paints. There are ceramic paints on the market that can be tried with groups. Water-based glass paints do not need baking, and are ideal for painting on surfaces that do not need washing; however oven-baked paints are more durable.
