ABSTRACT

The therapeutic touch is an important part of the protocol and has a session in its own right. It has an equal value to the psychotherapeutic session. The nurturing of feelings of physical well-being and warmth are an essential part of the therapeutic process. Not only does therapeutic touch enable the child or adult to gain direct access to physical well-being, it also restores gaps in primary experience which relate to warmth and trust. The Aromatherapy makes use of essential oils derived from herbs, plants and flowers, which result in a highly concentrated liquid with therapeutic properties when applied to the body. In A Quiet Place the oils are used in a way which is rather more in line with the biology and psychology of fragrance. The oils offered will include some that have uplifting properties such as lemon, lime, mandarin and peppermint.
