Subtle lapses in concentration Clearly, not all of the concentration difficulties experienced by a person have costly consequences for them or what they are doing. Indeed, to the untutored eye, lapses in concentration may pass unnoticed. However, sometimes the consequences of even small lapses in concentration can be fatal, such as those injuries incurred by the victims of road traffic accidents. In such cases, impaired concentration can literally be bad for our health and survival. As well as having concerns over their health and safety, individuals with problems in concentrating risk undermining their relationships and educational, work and sports performance.
