ABSTRACT

Exploring the intrinsic motivations of students is important because it allows each individual to access relevant personal information and decide how best to motivate themselves for a particular task. When this is done well, the student is enabled to identify and act on the relationship between their motivation and concentration. In doing so, the student may find that they do not have a problem with concentration directly but more of a problem with motivation on-task. Moreover, emotional stress can often be increased by setting tasks in which an individual has limited control but the demands are high (Bailey, 2010).
