ABSTRACT

The overall aim of mindful coaching is to help the individual to develop critical self-evaluation and self-reflection skills. Initially, however, the coach shows the individual how this can be done. In this model of mindful coaching, the individual learns to evaluate and reflect on how they receive information, and their thinking, feelings and behaviours as these pertain to concentration. To do this, the coach models to the individual the core skills of evaluating, reflecting and planning for future action. The individual can then adopt and adapt these, so they can continue to understand and improve their concentration without always depending on the coach.
