ABSTRACT

Emotional stress and related factors can be resolved and better managed through assisted selfevaluation by a performance facilitator or coach. It is often relevant to explore with an individual the nature of their feelings about particular activities they are engaged in and how this impinges on their ability to retain good levels of focus. It is also important to elicit the self-talk which emerges as an individual is progressing through a task which requires sustained, focused concentration. Looking at their self-talk, we can examine in detail whether its content is cyclical and if it generally undermines or assists their performance.
