February An IRA mortar bomb attack on Downing Street took place but there were no injuries. Weeks later they bombed both Paddington and Victoria stations with only one death.
An allied land offensive began in Iraq and opposition collapsed. Within three days Kuwait was liberated. Saddam Hussein had set fire to all Kuwait’s oil wells and all but destroyed the city.
