ABSTRACT

This book is about exploring our close relationship with food and its preparation,

and should be used as a resource for care workers operating in close relationship

with their clients. We are what we eat, or so the saying goes, and you can often tell

a lot about a person from their dietary habits! For some people food is merely a

source of fuel or energy but for many it is a major aspect of their lives, and for

those in residential settings, mealtimes can often be one of the most enjoyable and

sociable aspects of the day. Because food plays such an important part in our lives it

triggers many memories. Linking the activity and reminiscence ideas with recipes

further enhances recollection and allows us to re-experience the tastes of the past.
