ABSTRACT

There is clear emerging research evidence that teacher stress and poor well-being contributes significantly to emotionally unhealthy schools. The Team Around The Child is currently viewed as the standard model of multi-agency service provision; although it is being modified it will incorporate the same core principles. However, it is often fraught with logistical difficulties around accessing and locating numerous support agencies, clinical and health, social services professionals and of course other teacher-practitioners in one place, namely school, on a particular day, date and time! Social, emotional and mental health team around the child (SEMTAC) should place the emphasis firmly on the needs and strengths of the child or young person, rather than those of organisations or other service providers. Finally, SEMTAC is about having a clear vision bolstered by strong leadership. Core values are the guiding principles that dictate behaviour and action.
