ABSTRACT

The mental health framework was developed by the Mental Health Foundation in 19991 as a 'tool' to help those professionals working in the clinical field to develop a holistic view of children and young people's mental health, and this by focusing on three interactive domains, namely 'individual', the 'family' and the 'community/environment'. By counting the number of risks and protective factors that impact upon a child or young person, clinicians and related professionals could create a mental health snapshot to begin addressing those 'risk' factors through utilising the most effective strategies available in the community. The four-field emotional well-being map or template is also divided into two parts by a bold black line in the centre of the template. The mutually agreed/evidence-based snapshot profile is a useful, relevant and accurate baseline 'snapshot' for developing a reducing anxiety management plan and a personalised provision map that is truly child-centred and needs-led!.
