ABSTRACT
Sometimes the tourists pay Than Le in Australian dollars which she hides away under her
mattress. She is saving them for a trip she wants to make when she is older.
Than Le dreams of visiting Australia one day. She saw Australia on a map once. It was
enormous. It looked like a spreading eagle covering half the page. Her own country,
Vietnam, was tiny. Vietnam was just a tiny spot at the very top of the map. She would love
to visit Australia at Christmas time just to see for herself what all the fuss is about. She had
read a story at school called ‘An Australian Bush Christmas’. Ever since, she has loved the
idea of seeing the real Australian bush and all those fascinating bush creatures.
