ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines some of the basic principles of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). The feelings caused by tapping vary from person to person and depend on the problem being treated. Local tapping points, also known as electromagnetic points, meridian energy points or acupoints, are the places on the surface of the body that we tap during EFT. Stimulation by tapping, touch or rubbing one of the electromagnetic points raises the level of energy or 'vibrational energy'. Used in the original EFT teaching and associated with the initial set-up procedure of EFT is the sore point (SP). The location of the sore point is vertically up from the nipple about halfway to the collarbone. In EFT the subjective units of distress (SUD) scale, is the most common method of ranking the level of distress or disruption caused when aspects of an issue are brought to mind.
