ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights the importance of being specific, responding to individual aspects as they emerge and dealing with core issues. Tapping on a very global problem such as depression, for example, is likely to give temporary or no benefit. Depression, anxiety, problems with self-image, persistent anger and childhood abuse result from numerous specific past events and these underlying issues will be experienced differently by each individual. The chapter provides a case study that illustrates how good Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) detective work can help to uncover and clear sufficient aspects of an issue to cause it to collapse. By mentally running an internal scan of the body during a tapping session, vital information emerges which is often connected with the core of the issue. Calibration in EFT is the key skill of observing and listening for the unconscious cues revealed by someone when they are emotionally connected with the process.
