ABSTRACT

There are many great theorists on memory who have written copiously on the subject, and it is not brief to go down the theory track in any great detail. People with a lowered working or auditory memory may have enormous problems in retaining what has just been said to them, some even struggling to remember the first part of a sentence by the time the end of it is reached. The short-term memory lasts a little longer. Here 'short-term' applies to both visual and auditory memory types. Long-term memory is our store of useful information, such as people's names, or what happened when. Visual memory is important here too: for a client who finds it difficult to put names to faces it's equally important to remember the face as well as the name.
