ABSTRACT

The previous chapter focused on the dangerous decisions and misperceptions of government and how a contractor can avoid being drawn into tragic outcomes. Many tragic outcomes are, however, of the contractor’s own doing. So, we need to also understand how to avoid our own misperceptions, poor judgment, and self-aggrandizement. The following are examples of mental traps in the solutions development process. Despite how obvious these traps appear, business development activities and solutions development efforts continue to be crushed by their inescapability.
