ABSTRACT

In this final chapter, the main lessons from across the chapters are brought together. In doing so, I highlight the opportunities to apply these in your own work. If you have read the entire book from cover to cover, these concepts will be familiar; if you have been in more of a hurry to start analysing your documents, this chapter should help you think critically when developing your proposal for a research project that uses them. The common challenges to undertaking documentary research are outlined. These are discussed in a chronological fashion throughout a study, in relation to the following:
