ABSTRACT
The Party Constitution as approved by the Tenth Congress of the Party once more explains the basic line of our Party throughout the historical period of socialism. Chairman Mao has taught us: 'The correctness or incorrectness of the ideological and political line decides everything'. The basic line of the Party, as prescribed by Chairman Mao for the entire historical period of socialism, points out: 'Socialist society covers a considerably long historical period'. The basic line of the Party correctly reflects the class contradictions and class struggle in socialist society. The Party's basic line prescribes the Party's strategic mission and overall goals in continuing the revolution under proletarian dictatorship: it must thoroughly overthrow the bourgeoisie and all exploiting classes, replace the bourgeois dictatorship with proletarian dictatorship, defeat capitalism with socialism, destroy the systems of exploitation, eliminate classes and the distinctions among classes, and lay the groundwork for the transition to communism.
