ABSTRACT

This chapter explores some of the resources and services available clients and families to meet social and recreational needs. It discusses social support, family caregiver support, and activities and organizations that equipment and facilities for recreation. The social support network includes family members, peers, friends, social clubs, and organizations. Social relationships help to define as people. Peers share a special characteristic that provides the basis for a commonality of experience. Peers can be of a similar age; be of the same gender, marital status, be graduates of a particular school or institution; live in the same neighborhood or apartment building, or share a special interest or ability. Caregivers are an essential part of the client's social support network. In order to enable the client to have a good quality of life, it is important to address and meet the needs of caregivers and family members.,.
