ABSTRACT

In vitro cytotoxicity showed a concentration and time dependent toxicity on prostate cancer cells with cell viability of 22% and 6% with maximum concentration of aqueous and ethanolic nanoparticles of Baliospermum montanum respectively, in 48 hours.

The C. guinanensis flower extract mediated nanoparticles showed absorbance peaks at 318-323nm region in the spectral analysis. At concentration of plant extract with silver nanoparticles. The (12 mm) clear inhibitory zone appeared around 100µl against Pseudomonas aeroginosa MTCC 2453after incubation for 24h followed by Bacillus subtilis MTCC121 (23 mm), Staphylococcus aureus MTCC96 (13 mm), Klebsiella pneumonia MTCC109 (15 mm) and E.coli MTCC 912 (20 mm).

An oral dose of C. chinensis ethanolic extract at 125 and 250 mg/kg and C. chinensis nanoparticles at 25 and 50mg/kg showed a significant hepatoprotective effect relatively to the same extent (P<0.05) by reducing levels of aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, and alkaline phosphatise.
