ABSTRACT

Internal auditors typically work on projects, which are endeavors with a defined scope or deliverable, a budget and a timeline for completion. Time management consists of planning and consciously controlling the amount of time spent on various activities. The goal is to increase efficiency, effectiveness and overall productivity by working smarter so more gets done, in less time, with lower stress levels. The first step in effective time management is to reframe the thought process away from outputs and toward outcomes. The next step is to minimize interruptions. With the constant demand on everyone's time, most people have little time to work without distractions and interruptions on their to-do lists. Time management is an essential skill that helps internal auditors keep their assignments under control, stress to a minimum, and make continuous progress toward the achievement of goals.
