ABSTRACT

Before getting into the details of how to use QLab 4 to create a design, it is important to understand the basics of the software, from installation to setup. This chapter addresses all of the preliminary considerations before jumping into how the software functions. The Graphics Processing Unit, or graphics processing unit, is an important consideration for the using video in QLab. QLab 4 introduces a series of changes to the licensing structure that are completely different in many ways from past iterations. Since the QLab 3 licenses were never account based, the process for removing licenses always required a manual deauthorization. QLab 4 has now introduced the ability to modernize V3 licenses, making them account based to allow for precise tracking of which computers have licenses installed and what types. Templates are an easy way to create a default workspace that can be used as a starting point for a new show.
