ABSTRACT

To design audience’s presentation with planned repetition, students must clearly know their purpose and what they want the audience to know. The structure of an oral presentation is crucial for one main reason: Once a statement has been articulated, the audience cannot "rehear" what has been said. Listening is difficult, and audiences will tire even when a presentation is relevant and motivating. To grab their listener's attention, students must develop a title that reflects the content or subject of their presentation but does so in an interesting way. The title of an oral presentation should prepare the audience for the content or information to be presented. Be careful a student does not omit information their audience needs, but help them look for ways to eliminate non-essential material. Helping an audience follow their message requires that students build into their structure a certain amount of redundancy.
