ABSTRACT

Student-athletes come from all kinds of families and communities, and decide to attend colleges they hope will be a good fit for them based on where they come from and where they hope they are going. However, sometimes things do not work out as they hoped. This case introduces a common situation where a freshman feels they do not fit in with the college, team or sport culture they joined. Often the student-athlete is inexperienced in the transition to college and in navigating their new roles and responsibilities. They can often feel alone and isolated, and when this happens they begin to question whether somewhere else might be better for them. This case deals with this dilemma.
