ABSTRACT
Most of the direct producers of the time had been liberated from the shackles of the slave system, and they constituted the great peasant class. Their increased enthusiasm for labor and their positive attitude toward production ensured that the pro duction of society moved forward at an unprecedented rate and that the economy of society attained a new level of prosperity.
