John Silver: The Beggar of Love

John Silver: The Beggar of Love ( John Silver: Ai no kojiki) was first performed in Tokyo on August 1,1970, beside Shibuya’s Kitaya Inari Shrine. The play was performed simultaneously in Naha, Okinawa, by a second contingent of the Situation Theatre. Both productions were directed by Kara Jürö. The text of the play appears in Kara Jurô zensakuhin-shU, vol. 2 (Töjusha, 1979). First published in the magazine Umi (March 1970), it is also included in two other collections of Kara’s plays: Renmujutsu (Chtlö köronsha, 1971) and Kyüketsuki (Kadokawa shoten, 1975).
