ABSTRACT

Morning came quick, and before he even felt fully awake they were rolling him away, down the hall and into a brightly lit room. Deirdre had walked with him, as far as she could. “Your father’s flying in today,” she said in those last moments. “Should be here by the time you’re back in your room.” He smiled at her through the haze, told her he loved her. And then she was gone, closed behind two doors that swung shut.
