13.1 Induction as the converse of deduction: induction and connexive confirmation

The theme that induction is the converse relation of deduction, once widely espoused, has fallen into disrepute. Indeed more, it has been abandoned, though closely related successors have sprung up in its place: nétably the hypothetico-deductive method, and latterly that sceptical usurper that would replace it in turn, with some such variant as corroboration, namely deductivism of Popperian and other forms.
