ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews how technology might enhance the educational experience of adult learners on the margins of higher education. In exploring relevant literature, it highlights some of the obstacles and opportunities faced by higher education institutions and individuals seeking to integrate technology into the teaching and learning process. The chapter assesses the practicalities of Community Access Programme's (CAP) engagement with technology in its goal to help bridge global demands and local identities, contribute to human and social capital and extend opportunities for active citizenship. It looks at how CAP provision is operated in terms of the curriculum, assessment, learner support, and changing attitudes. Information communication technology (ICT) is featured in CAP provision in a variety of ways that responded and extended the learning opportunities available for adults learning in the community. The chapter also explains the ways in which CAP used ICT.
