ABSTRACT

An important lesson to learn is that each individual is different, and demands an educational system that treats them as such, with short shrift given to institutions perceived as failing to do so. No single overriding issue predominated for all students, but rather, a complex web of considerations operated even for one individual when contemplating further study. Depending on the academic discipline involved, be it shipping or logistics, and whether the individual already possessed prior industrial experience or otherwise, their particular motivations for undertaking study varied substantially.
