ABSTRACT

Like any other form of media, experiences for the new realities are created from raw source assets, the sound, music, and vocals content one use to produce a finished product. Also like any other form of media there is no single best source or method for gathering the assets one use. There are a range of factors that can influence how any production team goes about preparing to build a product and these factors will all influence the decisions made. The level of quality one wants for production will also usually influence the cost of production. When applied to each of the possible ways of sourcing or creating assets one can map out how each approach can influence their end design. The chapter looks at a range of potential options for sourcing sound effects and compares their suitability for different kinds of projects.
