ABSTRACT

I’ve found the best way to understand leadership is to experience it first hand with individuals who demonstrate the actions, behaviors, attributes, and traits that move organizations from one state of existence to a higher state of performance and success. The reverse is also true for learning about bad leadership from those who have taken organizations from success into failure. It is critical to understand both ends of the leadership spectrum. My first experience with successful leadership came as a young athlete in high school where my coach (Matt Lococo), and the team’s head coach (Dick Saltrick), took on a losing team and produced a successful winning program, eventually winning the state championship.
