ABSTRACT

Even from a definitive and basic perspective, change and transformation are not exactly the same. The change versus transformation discussion,

and confusion, has been going on in management, leadership, and organization effectiveness circles for more than 25 years. When I was exposed to the Organization Effectiveness Group of AT&T’s Bell Labs, there was no consensus about the difference between change and transformation. The way I’ve learned to describe it; change is related to management and managing, while transformation is more about leadership and leading.
