ABSTRACT

The chapter subscribes to the overall logic of the integral enterprise, from community building to sustainable development, as per overall social ecology, functionally if not also structurally. For Chinyika-oriented Dr Chidara Muchineripi and Dr Steve Kada specifically, who participated in our Trans4m/Da Vinci Institute PhD program as well as a previous project-based Masters of ours, as indeed for Ndlovu-Gatsheni generally, the starting point was the trauma of colonization, which had the effect of upsetting the African ecology when foreign methods of farming and crops were introduced by the colonizers. Ndlovu-Gatsheni asserts that Southern Africans may counter coloniality by influencing such institutions to rather develop knowledge for Africa as opposed to acting as care-takers to archaic colonial machinery. Community Activation, for us, then, constitutes the starting point for a healthy society and economy, in Zimbabwe if not in Africa as a whole.
